Dr. Kurzrock is also Vice Chief of the Division of Hematology-Oncology Division in the UC San Diego School of Medicine. Previously, Dr. Kurzrock spent many years at University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where she began her career as an oncologist in 1984. While there she created one of the largest hypothesis-driven Phase I clinical trials program in the world, leading to the formation in 2007 of the clinical trials department, with her as its founding chair. In FY2012, the program enrolled about 1,200 patients on 128 therapeutic trials. Dr. Kurzrock's approach emphasizes using molecular profiling to match patients with targeted therapies.
